Before After
Temple Kitchen Renovations
Upon returning to Coffee Time after Covid- 19, I saw how nice the large hall looked but felt the kitchen didn’t quite live up to that standard. I explored the notion how much it might cost to upgrade the kitchen and started compiling estimates. Presenting my findings to the board, took direction from the board as to the extent and expectations for the kitchen renovation, added upgrading the small hall kitchen, as the lifespan for the kitchens had expired for both kitchens many years ago, and we had no other projects ready for grant applications.
We began applying for grants and discovered what funding we could qualify for during the summer and early September. We were approval for one grant and began finding and ordering materials and lining up our contractors. The cabinets were ordered but had no firm delivery date, and continued to fill in other needs such as plumbing, electrical, flooring, demolition and other materials. However, the most essential need was the large hall countertop where food items were displayed. It was not standard and it took months to find a contractor willing to do this job.
We were notified, cabinet delivery was the last week of November. We had bookings for the hall and worked around our renters with as little disruption as we possibly could to their events. Fortunately, our contractors willing worked their availability around our needs. Just when it seemed that the project was heading into the final stages, we had a couple of issues with countertop damage that stopped forward momentum, as we needed to find solutions in order to complete repairs.
Finally, we are working towards the finish. Wall and ceiling repairs are in progress. The backsplash installation has been booked. Delivery was taken for the final cabinet required when changes were made to the ventilation. The electricians are notified of the workflow booking that will allow them to complete our electrical needs. Painting will commence as soon as possible.
I would like to thank our volunteers for their hard work, our contractors for their flexibility, understanding, their solutions and our renters during this time.
Respectfully Submitted,
